About the Reading
The Whitenoise Project is an affinity group created to center writers of color and facilitate monthly readings, discussions, walking tours, and workshops.
In strict science-y jargon, White Noise is defined as noise that contains all of the different colors/frequencies of sound combined, similar to how white light is all wavelengths of visible light. What is it about a white noise machine or a fan that masks other sounds, and what is it about white supremacy in the literary canon that silences historically marginalized voices?
We started the White Noise Project not to put people to sleep but to interrupt, to add to the discussion regarding representation and to center / amplify voices of color.
